Meet the Team

Martin Oelofse

I grew up in a small town on the edge of the India Ocean in South Africa. My love of nature and the sea inspired Pointbreak, and the ethos behind it.

My family have architecture running in their veins, but I chose the practical side. I started building in London in 2000, and then became self-employed in 2003. I completed my New Zealand Carpentry Certificate while working for one of the premium architectural builders in Christchurch, where I had some of the best building experiences in my life. Now, equipped with knowledge about New Zealand climate and building practices, I resumed working for myself.

I am Licensed Builder Practitioner (LPB Carpentry class) and NZ qualified builder with more than 15 years of construction experience.

I did everything from laying timber floors to renovating hotels, and soon found that I enjoyed building homes that are far superior to industry standard.

I am a certified Health and Safety Manager, have a certificate in Project Management, and am studying towards a New Zealand Diploma in Construction Management.

I am personally involved with every project at Pointbreak, from design, costing, project management to the build. Every project we take on, I work in conjunction with the onsite foreman. You will deal directly with me getting the project started and then we will remain in contact for the entirety of the build. I work hard to build a relationship where we trust each other and communicate easily.

I believe that New Zealanders need better homes. I’ll help you create yours.

Sue Oelofse

Sue will be your main contact. She manages the sales process, accounts, HR and interior design.

Sue has a background in advertising accounts management as well as interior design project management – if anyone knows how interpret a brief, it is her. Sue’s incredible organisational skills make building look like filling in a checklist and she makes sure nothing on the back end gets missed. Other than keeping Martin in line she has her hands full making sure her family eats healthy, but mostly it’s the dog Tess that has a balanced diet.

Sue is passionate about all things beautiful and functional and brings a real flair to our clients interiors, from helping with kitchen design to doing space planning through her own company SO Interiors.

Sue is the steering wheel of this well oiled machine.
